City Background and History
Provo is the third largest city in the state of Utah, with a population of a little over 110,000. The city is the center of the Provo-Orem metro area, which is home to over half a million residents. The area was first visited by Silvestre Velez de Escalante, a Spanish missionary who passed through the Great Basin area in 1776.
